What Is In a TITLE?!

Last night at the O'hanlon Artist circle the question was brought up about titles of art. How does one title their art? Is a title necessary? Where does a title lead the viewer? I sheepishly raised my hand and told this very experienced group, "I sometimes post a painting on FaceBook and ask for suggestions". Yea, there was a gasp, but hey that's the way I roll!
